Class of '66 - Newsletter #15     PHN-PHHS-PHC         September 8, 2010

Reunion News:
The Sept. Reunion meeting at Ann Cleland Murphy's had our best attendance yet!!  Contributing to the discussions, decisions were: Dave Tacie, Ann Cleland-Murphy, Terry Pettee, Pam Schultz-Carlisle and  Ed Weischler from PHHS, Sharon Touma-Adams from PHC, and Dan Crocker, Ginny Henry-Irland, Linda Sheldon-Taylor, Tom Coleman, Cy Bridge, and Patty Wakeham-Roberts from PHNorthern.  Tentative plans for the July 15-17 weekend include:
Friday evening - An informal casual social gathering at The Tavern (http://vintagetavern.com) where all food and drink will be "on your own".
Satuday daytime - Three options may be available, depending on YOUR feedback: 1) a  (`$15) trip on the Huron Lady (http://www.huronlady.com/), 2) a Golf outing at The Elks, PHGC, or Black River CC ??$$??), and 3) a Beach Day at Lakeside or Metcalf Park, BYO food, drink & blanket.  The committe would like everyone to fill out a brief survey , so they can plan according to what everyone prefers.  We may plan 2 simultaneous events so spouses can choose separate venues.  The survey will be mailed separately.  Please complete it ASAP!!
Saturday evening
We have reserved PH Golf Club for the evening.  We'll start with liquid libations, and rather than have a formal sit-down dinner, we'll have "heavy hors d'oeuvres" over the duration of the evening.  All cocktails and beverages will be "on your own".  After we've sated our appetites somewhat, Donnie Burton and the Dynasty from the Dome Days, will play a mix of tunes for us.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we'll be able to use the patio, too.
Sunday - Options include: 1) "Farewell donuts and coffee" early (9-11??) at the Bean Dock/Vantage Point, and/or 2) separate "Open House" at both PHHS and PHNorthern.
WATCH FOR YOUR SURVEY and RSVP your preferences.

The next Reunion Planning Meeting will be on a SATURDAY, OCT. 9 at 1PM so folks from around central Michigan can come to the meeting.  Ann Cleland-Murphy has again offered her home for the meeting:
2978 Sandy Oaks Ln, Fort Gratiot (off Lake Shore Rd, south of Metcalf Rd).  Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Would you be willing to be an official photographer for our 45th Reunion? We'd like 2 or 3 volunteers!

We're trying to identify all of Arned Services Veterans; please let us know who you are.

Now work part time delivering auto parts.  Leslie retired from the Church in 2007 also.  We stay pretty busy with our kids and hobbies.  We get to FL occasionally to visit relatives in the Orlando area.

From Tasia Bladis-Kisscorni: Has anyone taken the time to look up any of these (LOST) names on FACEBOOK??  Just a thought...but, I am sure you all already "thought" it!

From Cyndy Rau-Hodgins - I work at NGS/CoureSource (Third Party Administrator) for Self Funded Clients, as a Benefits and Claims Analyst.  I have a son Jonah

30 yrs, and a daughter Jobeth 26 yrs, and two grandsons and one on the way.

then click on the arrow to get to Darrel's page....he has talent!!]

BIO - Eric Fenton: I retired from the Air Force in Feb 2003 having served almost 35 years reserve and active duty as enlisted, personnel officer and chaplain.  I then was assistant rector at Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio and retired from the Episcopal Church in October 2009.  I keep busy as a part-time counselor for Christian Credit Counseling, serving as a supply priest as needed in the Diocese of West Texas and I play trumpet in two bands - the Beethoven Maenerchor Concert Band, and the Shrine Band.  From my first marriage I have a son who remodels homes and lives with my grandson in Columbus OH, a daughter who is living in New Hampshire and working as an engineer in Massachusetts, a daughter who is moving from Brooklyn to the Netherlands to work as a consultant for art galleries and artists facilities.  My first assignment (1987) as a chaplain in the Air Force was Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana where I met and married Janet Etzwiler.  Our two daughters are now attending San Antonio College and live at home.  The summer of 2009 I had the joy of serving as summer chaplain at the US Army Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.  Janet, our two girls and I all went on this adventure that included two weeks in Hawaii.  This past summer was not so exotic.  We did go to Montana for a month where we celebrated the 4th of July at the family ranch near Bozeman with fireworks, BBQ, homemade ice cream, and our traditional viewing of the musical "1776".

FACT FACTS: Dave Williams: I'm currently retired after about 30 years with the Quaker Oats Co. My last role was as VP of sales for Gatorade. Married to Mary Kay for 40 years and counting.  Three daughters - Kara married with 2 little ones, Megan married with 2 1/2 kids and Lindsay single and teaching in Chicago.  Look forward to attending in July for sure, and we'll have to see about February - grandchild number 5 is due the same date.

Notes from PHC:

REMINDER:  The "Husky Partnership Fund" at PHN is planning to build a memorial  (red brick walkway to, and white patio around) at the school flagpole in front of the school.   I have purchased, on behalf of all of us,  the largest white brick available.  It will be engraved:  "First Class" - Class of 1966  I have been told that it will be placed "front & center" in the landscaping plan.  I will gladly accept any donations to help defer expenses. A " FIRST CLASS" THANKS to: Barbara Bernum-Roddy and Cherie Older-Balmer
